Data Guarantee Terms

1. Introduction

At CaroCheck operated by Dot Squad Ltd, we are committed to providing accurate and reliable vehicle history information. To support this commitment, we offer a £30,000 Data Guarantee, protecting you against financial losses resulting from inaccuracies in our reports, subject to the terms and conditions outlined below.

2. Scope of the Data Guarantee

Our Data Guarantee applies to specific financial losses arising directly from inaccuracies in the following areas:

  • Outstanding Finance: If our report states that a vehicle has no outstanding finance, but it is later discovered that an active finance agreement was in place at the time of the check, you may be eligible for compensation.
  • Insurance Write-Off Status: If our report does not indicate a vehicle as written off, but it is later found to have been categorized as an insurance write-off (Category A, B, S, or N) before the check, this guarantee may apply.
  • Stolen Vehicle Status: If our report states that a vehicle was not reported as stolen, but it is later confirmed to have been stolen at the time of the check, you may be entitled to compensation.
  • Mileage Discrepancies: If our report does not flag any mileage discrepancies, but it is subsequently discovered that the odometer had been tampered with or incorrectly recorded, significantly affecting the vehicle’s value, this guarantee may cover such losses.

3. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Data Guarantee, the following conditions must be met:

  • You must have purchased a comprehensive vehicle history report directly from Car Metrics before acquiring the vehicle.
  • The vehicle must have been registered in the United Kingdom at the time of the check.
  • Any claim must be submitted within 12 months from the date of the report purchase.
  • You must provide all necessary documentation, including proof of vehicle purchase, report reference number, evidence of inaccuracy, and financial loss.

4. Limitations and Exclusions

The Data Guarantee does not cover:

  • Issues or defects that were known or should have been known before purchasing the vehicle.
  • Events affecting the vehicle after the date of our report.
  • Non-financial losses, including loss of use, inconvenience, or indirect damages.
  • Claims lacking sufficient documentation to verify the inaccuracy and financial loss.

5. Claim Process

If you believe you have a valid claim under this Data Guarantee, please follow these steps:

  • Submit Documentation: Provide required documents, including the vehicle history report, proof of purchase, evidence of inaccuracy, and financial loss details.
  • Cooperate with Investigation: Assist in our investigation by supplying any additional information or vehicle access if required.

6. Resolution

Once a claim is submitted, we will:

  • Review the Claim: Assess the submitted information and investigate the reported inaccuracy and financial impact.
  • Determine Eligibility: Verify if the claim meets the Data Guarantee requirements.
  • Compensation: If approved, compensate up to £30,000 or the vehicle’s current market value, whichever is lower.

7. General Conditions

  • Entire Agreement: This Data Guarantee forms the entire agreement regarding our accuracy commitment and supersedes prior representations.
  • Governing Law: This guarantee is governed by UK law. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of the United Kingdom.
  • Amendments: We reserve the right to modify or discontinue this guarantee. Changes will not affect previously purchased reports.
