1. Introduction

Welcome to CheckVehicle.AI!

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, mobile interface, vehicle history reports, API services, and any associated software or services (collectively, the "Services").

The Services are operated by Dot Squad Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. By accessing our website, creating an account, or purchasing a vehicle history report, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

2. Services Offered

CheckVehicle.AI provides comprehensive, data-driven vehicle history reports and professional API integrations. Our Services include compiling historical records from official, public, and proprietary databases for vehicles registered in the United Kingdom.

These checks include, but are not limited to:

  • Outstanding finance and logbook loan verification.
  • Insurance write-off history and salvage registry records.
  • Police stolen vehicle markers.
  • MOT test history, including advisory notices and mileage readings.
  • Mileage verification and odometer discrepancy/clocking alerts.
  • Vehicle specification details (make, model, colour history, engine size, VIN, and registration details).
  • CO2 emission profiles and ULEZ compliance status.
  • Import/export records and previous keeper counts.
  • Professional developer and business API access.

3. Account Creation & Security

To access certain features of our platform, including saving report history, maintaining check credits, or utilising our API, you must create a registered account.

By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, truthful, and complete details, including a valid email address.
  • Maintain the absolute confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • Accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
  • Notify us immediately through the contact form if you suspect any unauthorised access or a security breach.

Account Restricting & Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your account at our sole discretion, without prior notice, if we find:

  • A violation of these Terms.
  • Any fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive activity associated with your account.
  • System scraping, reverse-engineering attempts, or automated bot activities.
  • Repeated payment disputes, unrecognised chargebacks, or unpaid invoice balances.

4. Permitted Use & Licensing

4.1 Personal & One-Off Use License

When you purchase a single vehicle history report, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to view, download, and print that report for your personal, non-commercial evaluation of a specific vehicle.

Under this license, you are strictly prohibited from:

  • Reselling, distributing, or commercially exploiting the reports or compiled data.
  • Repackaging or white-labeling our vehicle reports for third parties.
  • Publicly posting our reports on internet forums, listing sites, or sharing them in large databases without our express written consent.

4.2 Professional & Business Accounts

If you register for a dealer, fleet, or business account, your license permits you to share reports directly with prospective vehicle buyers or clients in the ordinary course of your local dealership business. However, systematic automated scraping, data harvesting, or programmatic redistribution remains strictly prohibited unless governed by a dedicated API agreement.

5. API Access & Fair Use

Users utilising our developer or business API channels must adhere to our strict Fair Use and Security standards:

  • Rate Limits: To ensure system stability and fair access for all users, API keys are subject to strict rate limits. Attempting to bypass these limits or distribute traffic across multiple accounts is a breach of these Terms.
  • Security & Keys: Your API key is highly confidential. You are solely responsible for keeping your key secure and avoiding public code repository exposure.
  • Prohibited Scraping: Using our API to systematically compile a separate, localised database of vehicle plates, specifications, or valuations is strictly forbidden.
  • Suspension: We reserve the right to temporarily pause or permanently revoke API access if we detect abnormal query volumes, unauthorised usage patterns, or unpaid service balances.

6. Payments, Billing & Refund Policy

6.1 Pricing & Payment Methods

All purchases, subscriptions, and prepaid credits are billed in British Pounds Sterling (£) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payments are processed securely via our payment processor, Mollie. We accept major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and other secure payment methods as displayed at checkout.

6.2 Real-Time Digital Delivery & Statutory Right of Cancellation

Our reports are digital products that are generated and delivered in real-time.

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the EU Consumer Rights Directive:

  • By completing your purchase and requesting immediate generation of your report, you explicitly request that we begin performing our services immediately.
  • You acknowledge and agree that once the digital vehicle history report has been generated and made available to view, you waive your statutory 14-day right to cancel the contract and request a refund.

6.3 Refund & Review Policy

Since our reports consume real-time third-party registry credits upon generation, refunds are governed by the following rules:

  • Technical Delivery Failures: If a system error or network crash on our side prevents a purchased report from being generated or rendered, we will issue a full refund or credit your account with an unused check.
  • Discrepancies in External Registries: CheckVehicle.AI compiles records in real-time from external government and commercial registries. We do not own or maintain these registers (such as the DVLA, MIAFTR, or Police databases). Therefore, if a report is generated correctly but contains an error or omission because the official register itself has delayed, incomplete, or incorrect records, this is not grounds for a refund.
  • Data Verification Reviews: If you believe your report contains an error, please contact our support team via the contact form with your registration plate, report ID (if it exists), the date of purchase, and details of the discrepancy. We will initiate a formal review and work with our database partners to verify the records.

6.4 Fair "No-Findings" Credit Policy

We believe in fair value. If you purchase a premium vehicle check and our system successfully queries the registries but finds absolutely no historical records in our core risk registers (meaning there are zero records of finance, damage, stolen markers, salvage listings, or MOT history), we will automatically credit one unused check back to your account for future use.

7. The £30,000 Data Guarantee

Qualifying vehicle history reports purchased on CheckVehicle.AI include a Data Guarantee of up to £30,000 designed to protect you against direct financial losses resulting from certain undiscovered outstanding finance or insurance write-off markers.

This guarantee is subject to strict eligibility requirements, including:

  • Performing the check before you buy the vehicle.
  • Verifying that the vehicle's chassis number (VIN) and logbook serial number (V5C) match our report.
  • Fulfilling standard buyer diligence checks.

For the full detailed terms, limits, and claim procedures, please review our separate Data Guarantee Terms. These terms are incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Data Accuracy & Source Disclaimer

While we strive to provide the most reliable vehicle history checks in the UK, we operate as a real-time data aggregator.

Please read the following disclaimers carefully:

  • Real-Time Assembly: We compile data in real time from independent third parties, credit reference agencies, insurance registers, and government databases (such as the DVLA and MOT registers).
  • As-Is Data: All information is provided "as-is" and "as available". We do not warrant that our reports will be 100% complete, entirely free of errors, or completely up-to-date at the exact millisecond of search.
  • Buyer Diligence: A vehicle history report is a powerful decision-making tool, but it does not replace standard physical inspections. We highly recommend that you physically inspect the vehicle, check its chassis number (VIN) stamps on the car structure, verify the seller's identity against the V5C logbook, and take a test drive before completing any purchase.

9. Intellectual Property Rights

All software, algorithms, data compilations, report formats, user interfaces, logos, graphics, and text on our website are the exclusive property of Dot Squad Ltd or our database partners and are protected by United Kingdom and international copyright, database right, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, scrape, modify, publish, or distribute any part of our platform without our prior written authorisation.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Exclusion of Indirect Losses: We are not liable to you or any third party for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages. This includes, without limitation, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, towing fees, repair costs, or secondary financial losses arising from your purchase or sale of a vehicle.
  • Liability Cap: Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of our Services is strictly limited to the amount you paid to us for the specific report or service that gave rise to the claim.
  • Statutory Rights: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms, their subject matter, and their formation are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time to reflect changes in our Services, billing cycles, security protocols, or legal guidelines. When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of CheckVehicle.AI after any updates are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
